      Hello,

I have an problem with my USB connection on Windows 10 (tried three different computers). I did connect fine some months ago, now can’t.

Some research shows the problem was raised on this forum in May 2019. What seems to be the problem is the driver. The one on the CD supplied, and the one on the website will no longer install on any of my computers.

The driver I have is STMVC32PDRIVER dated from 2010. The exe file is dpinst_amd64.exe . If it matters mine are Intel processors.

The link suggested in May to the STM website leads to a message that indicates the driver won’t work on Windows 10.

      Any help is appreciated.

      Thanks.

I may have stumbled on a solution after reading more of the forum. The drivers on the STMmicroelectronics website https://www.st.com/content/st_com/en/products/development-tools/software-development-tools/stm32-software-development-tools/stm32-utilities/stsw-stm32102.html

will work if you select the installer for Windows 8 ignoring the advice that they are not for Windows 10. You need to register on the site and receive a download link by email. You will receive a Zip file containing several installers.

I used VCP_v1.50_SetupW8_x64_64bits.exe which worked fine. On one computer I had to uninstall a com port and an unrecognized device before Windows would stop insisting I already had the “best” driver installed.

On the second computer the above program ran and installed without any problem. (vagaries of Windows)

My USB on the A031 can now be reached again, and the configuration program connects.

Hope this of use to someone else.

        Cheers.

Joy is premature. Windows is back to not recognizing the USB.

I fear the problem can perhaps be solved for a short while, with a lot of work, and not consistently. The STM website probably knew what they were doing with their note about not working on Windows 10.

          Nuts.
