      Hi,

Recently purchased a QK-A032-AIS and installed it yesterday. The device is working: using Navionics and OpenCPN app I see it connects properly (right IP etc.) However I don’t get the AIS data from my EasyAIS device.

      Some facts:

      – The EasyAIS is blinking, apparently receiving both Channel A and B data. So I must assume this is ok and it sends the data down the line.

      – The A032 is sending data through WiFi and the mobile is properly receiving it, because I can use the NMEA 2000 GPS data on OpenCPN.

      – The A032 blinks with two leds: the red one and the next green one. So this indicates that no 0183 data is received (from the EasyAIS).

      – The connection with the Easy AIS is as follows:

      Easy AIS <> A032

      green (NMEA-out (-), AIS-Data) <> black (NMEA in-)

      white (NMEA-out (+), AIS-Data) <> grey (NMEA in+)

      – I had to extend the black and grey lines (used a soldering sleeve). So cannot imagine this connection is the problem. But will test next time I get to the boat this to exclude it – i hope ;-)

      – The Navionics app shows a correct connection (IP 192.168.1.100, port 2000, TCP) However, it shows the Quark-elec as a A026, with sonar data but without the expected AIS data.

      – I used the default configuration of the A032.

      Please advise…

Thanks, Peter van der Els, Netherlands.

Hi, The WiFi connection worked well according to your explanation. However you probably need reversing two NMEA wires,i.e.

        green (NMEA-out (-), AIS-Data) <>NMEA in+

        white (NMEA-out (+), AIS-Data) <> NMEA in-

        Keep us updated, please. Thanks.

          Hi,

Will try that suggestion. But it’s not what it says in the EasyAIS manual. I’ll let you know if this works.

          Cheers, Peter.

Hi, have tried your suggestion for the wiring, but it doesn’t work. What else can I do?

Fixed it! Had to change the transmission speed of the AIS to 28400 Bd, rather than the 4800 the previous owner had set it to. And I also switched the wires as suggested. Used TeraTerm (terminal emulator) on my COM port and OpenCPN to check the settings and monitor the message streams from the AIS, which revealed the wrong transmission speed.
