I am changing from my CP180i chart plotter to Navionics on a tablet and want to move the NASA wind vane as well. It currently works with the chart plotter, as does a NASA AIS receiver.

I have purchased aA024 along with the RS232 / RS485 protocol converter to get my AIS data unto the tablet over WiFi.

Issue: When I run OpenCPN on a pc with the A024 connected to the Com 6 serial port I can see a message saying that there is no AIS data. This is fair enough as I am 15 miles from the sea. However this does confirm that the A024 is talking to the Open CPN plotter. When I connect the NASA vane using the bridge and into the A024 I see data on the RS232 side but this is not seen on the Open CPN using a USB connection or on my tablet connecting over WiFi.

I have looked on the forum but can’t find any discussion about the A024

Thank you for your information. Wind van normally comes as a part of NASA Tactical Wind mast senor.

We have checked the product information you provided. On the webpage it has clearly explained as:

NMEA 0183 4800 Baud data sentence MWV – update rate = 10 per second

Unfortunately, our A024/026/027/031 doesn’t work with this 10Hz wind mast sensor(we support 1HZ wind sensor). The details have been discussed on the forum before. On page 3 of the following link, you will see more details.

FYI, some customers have purchased our A033 to avoid this issue.
