Whereas I get correct AIS data from A026, the GPS does not pick up a position. The green GPS LED on A026 doesn’t illuminate and neither Navionics on an iPad nor OpenCPN on a Mac laptop can get a position. Both apps do get the AIS data though.

The network setup itself is fine and I can ping the A026 successfully. Connecting directly with netcat for example to the box shows the same picture: AIS NMEA sentences, but no GPS NMEA sentences.

Make sure the GPS option on configuration tool hasn’t been disabled. All the module shipped from June 2020 have the option to disable GPS and WiFi.

When checking for more information on your website, I bumped into the general “Downloads” section and noticed another configuration tool for the A026 (https://www.quark-elec.com/product/qk-a … -receiver/) and this version suddenly offered a configuration option to enable or disable the GPS part of the A026. And indeed, the GPS part of the box was disabled by the presumably “old” configuration tool. Enabling GPS with the new tool did the trick and the unit now works on our boat as expected. We found this rather confusing, as neither the manual nor the product website mentioned the new configuration tool.

Thanks for coming back with us and really sorry for this confusion. We upgraded the latest firmware in June 2020 and all modules shipped after 18th June 2020 has the new firmware. In fact, if you go A026 product page, and then ‘Manual/Drivers’—>’Configuration software’, you will be able to download a zip file and there is a ‘readme’ text file which explained a bit more of the difference of the new configuration tools.

Again sorry for this confusion, we are working on the manual now and it will be released in the next a few days. Hope that will be more clear to all customers.
