Have been trying to power unit with basic 12 volt and ground set up with seatalk data port open and cannot get red light on. I confess I now see I should have gotten the 26 or even 24 as all I’m after is ais but this should work with 27. What am I missing ? Thx. Doug

Can you take a photo to show your connections please. Make sure you didn’t reverse two power wires(12v and GND).

Thank you for getting back. I’d be happy to send pic but am away from device for weekend. I did verify polarity with ammeter with pos into 12v slot and neg into ground. That said I think I found the problem. Stupid me I realize now initially tested with a 12v ac adaptor. I likely fried it.

Guess I’ll need to reorder—probably the 024 best if I only need AIS info , right? I see it’s powered differently Will I need the USB 12v to 5v adaptor too?

          Thx

          Doug

Did you ever solve your problem? If so, can you share your solution?

All I want is an AIS receiver (with a +12Vdc @2 Amp supply), but I get no LED response when turning on power???

Does the third wire from the SeaTalk cable need to be held high/low?

              Very frustrating.

Hi. No solution. I was willing to blame myself with the 12v ac fry theory I posted above but sounds like you and I have similar troubles. So—-ADIM. We await your view on this.

                Thx. Doug

Hi Sorry for the delay. It must be something wrong with the Internet connection. We have replied to the post yesterday.
Anyway, here it is: Just connect 12V and GND. A027 should start to work immediately and the LED will start lighting.
Double-check if the connections were fitted well. There are two reasons which could lead to no LED lighting:
1, Two wires have reversed connected.
2, The input power voltage has over above 15.5V.
Either way above will permanent damage A027.
If you have checked the connections are correct but no light comes out. Please send it back to us and we will investigate it. Alternatively, if you are confident with your DIY skill, then please try to remove the enclosure and take a few images of the boards and email us(don’t post here), we probably can help you to fix it by yourself.

ADMIN, No sign of damaged parts, however the power FET on the large heat sink gets warm over time. Can I get this replaced? It is the ideal solution to my application and I hope will breed further sales? Gerry Chaplin, gchaplin@comcast.net, Chaplin Marine Instruments. Thanks I tried to send a photo of 512K and was rejected. What is the largest photo file you will accept? … very frustrating.

I have tried to send a photo… to no avail…. 512K jpg too big?

As per your instructions, I have opened thr A027 and examined the PCB. No sign of burnt components but heat generated at the large heat sink with +5Vdc regulator (part # 7805). The power input fuse at F1 has NOT been blown. Can I get a replacement for this unit? GFC

I too have failed a027. Took out of casing and tried- to send pics but like Gerry -failed. So guess what? Here they are. This device is attached to proper 12v dc power with ground confirmed with ammeter and another device that lights up fine. Fuses at receptacles are fine

No light. No smoke. Nothing appears damaged. You seem to be smart guys with good ideas but this needs to be addressed. I am the guy who mistakenly attached to 12 v ac as I said before. If you determine that is the cause of this failure then I will take responsibility. That said I am waiting and watching the outcome for Gerry and possibility we have similar issues

                            Hi Doug,

12AC doesn’t work with A027. I guess your A027 has damaged due to this reason. So please contact our customer service team to get further help. Sorry for this.
