Quark Elec
Keymaster

I just installed one of these and can give my findings…

    1) Seatalk. There are 3 wires for this, Power positive, Power negative, and Data. On my raymarine cables, the data was yellow, and power was red and black. It’s a bus, so reversing the wires won’t help. Not sure if you could cause damage if you do.

    2) output via usb or wifi. The hyperterminal suggestion is ludicrously out of date. The program hasn’t been readily available for years. It used to be included for free in Windows XP. I recommend Putty (https://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/latest.html). Once you’ve connected your pc via USB, the pc will report a new “com” port. Look under device manager (right click start button and choose device manager in windows 10) for “ports (COM & LPT)”. The Quark device will show up as COMX, where X is a number. Start putty and choose “serial” as the connection type. Type 38400 in the speed box and COMX in the serial line box (where X is a number from before). Click open and you should get a terminal output of the nmea sentences. For wifi, connect your pc to the Quark wifi and use putty but this time choose “telnet” as the connection type, with port 2000 and the ip address of the Quark unit.

    Hope this helps.
