The install:
I have a Standard Horizon GX2200 VHF with AIS receiver, an assortment of Raymarine ST60 stuff (one of which is the graphic display/repeater with a Seatalk/NMEA translator built in) and the A031 to join together ( and later also connecting a Simrad NMEA0183 pilot).
Seatalk, NMEA AIS from the radio, NMEA DSC/GPS from the radio are going to the INPUTS of the Muxer.
NMEA OUTPUT is going to the NMEA input of the Raymarine Graphic display.
(Later the NMEA OUTPUT of the Raymarine graphic display is going to my Simrad autopilot.)
When I wrote my questions yesterday I was getting no blue lights. Having read a lot of this forum yesterday I later decided to troubleshoot by taking all of the data leads off and reinstalling them one at a time. First to go back on was NMEA AIS. I got no blue light until I tried reversing the leads – which I found counter-intuitive, but it seemed that this had been advised several times in threads I read yesterday. Reversing the leads gave me a blue light on the Muxer’s NMEA 1 input and on the NMEA output. Some progress.
I tried the NMEA DSC/GPS from the radio both normally and reversed on NMEA input 2 with no success until it occurred to me there might be a baud rate issue, and sure enough, by default the radio outputs DSC/GPS at 38400 so I changed the input setting on the muxer to that speed and got a blue light.
So I have NMEA 1 and 2 inputs working, NMEA output working, but seemingly no Seatalk input working yet.
***For clarity on your answer to yesterday’s question I DO NOT use the Seatalk power lead, ONLY Data (yellow) and negative, correct?***
Any idea why I am not getting a blue light on the Seatalk input? Not sure I tried reversing them as I did with the NMEA.
I have an old PC laptop on the boat and hooked up the laptop to the Muxer with the USB cable. I can successfully connect to the Muxer with the configuration tool via USB cable to make changes to configuration. I can connect the PC to the Muxer via Wifi, but if I remember correctly the config tool DOES NOT connect to the Muxer over the Wifi connection. I tried TCP/IP net assistant at the IP I assigned the Muxer on Port 2000, and it tells me it is connected, but no data show up. I *believe* that TCP/IP assistant was only connecting via USB and not Wifi.
So it seems I have a basic wifi problem as well as the problem of not seeing any data. What do you mean I cannot view Seatalk data without special devices? It will not show up on the TCP/IP net assistant?
Can you correct the following:
My AdHoc settings —
SSID = Quark
Password = ********
IP = 192.168.1.201 (to set up above DHCP assigned IPs on the local network once I get this sorted)
Gateway = 0.0.0.0 (does it need a gateway as ADHOC?)
Net Mask = 255.255.255.0
Port=2000
My Station Mode settings —
SSID = Boatname
Password = ********
IP = 192.168.1.201 (to set up above DHCP assigned IPs on the local network)
Gateway = 192.168.1.1 (router’s IP)
Net Mask = 255.255.255.0
Port=2000
TCP/IP Net Assistant:
Mode= TCP/IP server
IP=192.168.1.201
Port=2000
With these settings, as I mention above, it connects, but no data is displayed.
I have always been pretty capable with setting up gear, but this is a challenge.
